Heidulf Gerngross, a true master of the architectural and painterly, has left an incomparable mark on the world of art and architecture over the course of his impressive career. Born in November 1939 in idyllic Kötschach-Mauthen, his creative journey began as a journeyman carpenter at the Felbertal Werkschulheim in 1957, followed by his A-levels a year later. His thirst for knowledge led him to Vienna, where he studied architecture from 1958 to 1961, before embarking on an inspiring trip around the world from 1961 to 1962.

Missing Culture

In November, BURN-IN presents selected works in the exhibition Missing Culture of the Upper Austrian artist Roland F. Danner and combines them with works of art by Tomislav Sabolic (Croatia), Tatiana Siedlova (Slovakia), Igor Navrotskyi (Slovakia), and Marifé Nuñez (Spain) from the current BURN-IN depot.

Between nature worship and civilization criticism

Silvia SUN, born in 1969 in Gmunden, is an artist who moves in the multi-layered spheres between painting, photography, pop music and literature, and whose works explore the intersections of nature and civilization. Her childhood, shaped by proximity to the forest and views of the Traunstein, laid the foundation for her artistic journey and her profound connection to nature.

Streams of thought

An exhibition about Orwell's vision in the ultrasound of time. Big Data meets Big Brother. Google's cartography and the remapping of the self. In the BURN-IN Gallery, under the artistic direction of Sonja Dolzer, the solo exhibition GEDANKENSTRÖME by the Syrian-Austrian artist Rifaae (Refaayi Ahmad) presents itself as a kaleidoscope of emotional and conceptual depth. On display are more than 30 medium-format works created between 2020 and 2023.

A kaleidoscopic synthesis of architecture, art and language. Heidulf Gerngross - a retrospective. In the fascinating world of art and architecture, the ARCHIQUANT exhibition with works by Heidulf Gerngross is a special highlight. Curator and BURN-IN founder Sonja Dolzer, together with Heidulf Gerngross and Michelle Schreiner, has put together an impressive show that pays tribute to his extensive oeuvre spanning six decades.

Out of Joint

In the BURN-IN solo exhibition OUT OF JOINT by Upper Austrian artist Silvia SUN, the viewer is taken on a journey through a constantly changing present, marked by the turmoil of nature and the vagaries of human existence. SUN, inspired by Shakespeare's Hamlet, sees the world as out of joint, as out of joint. Her artworks echo this sentiment, a reflection of the fragility and uncertainty of our times.
