Between nature worship and civilization criticism

Silvia SUN, born in 1969 in Gmunden, is an artist who moves in the multi-layered spheres between painting, photography, pop music and literature, and whose works explore the intersections of nature and civilization. Her childhood, shaped by proximity to the forest and views of the Traunstein, laid the foundation for her artistic journey and her profound connection to nature.

After completing her education at the HBLA for Fashion and Clothing Technology in Linz, Silvia SUN was drawn to Vienna, where she devoted herself to the study of English and history. In 2013 she graduated with honours in history.

Silvia SUN's artworks are a dialogue between man and nature, a pursuit of harmony between civilization and wilderness. Her canvases are characterized by carefully selected shapes, vivid lines and colourful bands that enrich and challenge the contemporary art scene. They are a reflection of her philosophy, which explores the duality and tensions between the natural and man-made worlds.

SUN is not only an acclaimed artist and genealogist, but also a dedicated representative of the art community. Since 2018, she has served as a board member of The Creative Artists Association. In 2023, the creative collective ARTLINETRIO formed with Paul Jaeg, Thomas Steiner and Silvia SUN. These communities are a testament to their belief in the power of collective creativity and their vision of art that builds bridges and enables dialogues.

Their exhibitions are a kaleidoscope of their artistic evolution and their relentless search for new forms of expression. Each exhibition is a chapter in her story, a reflection of a moment in her artistic journey.

As a curator, Silvia SUN has demonstrated her vision and flair for contemporary art trends. She has not only created spaces where art can be experienced, but also platforms where new ideas and perspectives can emerge.

The recognition she has received in the form of grants, artist residencies, and acquisitions of works is a validation of her position in the art world.

SUN's artistic statement and works echo her inner world, her desires, and her reflections on the world. They are a window to her soul, a mirror of her thoughts about the role of man in the world and the relationship between nature and civilization.
Exhibitions in Austria, Switzerland, Great Britain and the USA. The artist lives and works in Linz.
