Eigenwelten - Steinthórsdóttir - Artist's text

Born in Keflavik (Iceland) in 1968, the artist studied journalism and communication science in Salzburg and has lived in Linz since 2000. Her abstract, minimalist works in palette knife technique use light and perspective to create relief-like structures that are constantly changing. Inspired by Icelandic nature, she works with materials such as the ash from the Eyjafjallajökull volcano, which symbolizes transience and transformation. Since 2005, she has been present with exhibitions and symposia in Iceland, Luxembourg, Germany and Austria, including at BURN-IN with Iridescent Iceland (2020), Silence of Being (2022) and Myth & Minimalism (2023).
