Eigenwelten - Rifaae - Artist's text

Rifaae (Refaayi Ahmad), born in northern Syria, graduated from the FINE ART ACADEMY in Damascus and gained international recognition early on through exhibitions of young Syrian artists, including the Spring series. His works, which combine tradition and modernity, have been exhibited in galleries from Kuwait to Germany. In 2010 and 2011, the National Museum in Damascus honored his art. After fleeing to Austria in 2016, he exhibited in Feldkirchen, Klagenfurt and Vienna and took part in workshops at the Albertina. Today, Rifaae has an international presence, with exhibitions in Istanbul, Riyadh, Kassel and Rome. BURN-IN has represented him since 2023 and is presenting his first solo exhibition in Vienna.
